Take Off to the Great White North

We made it!  After two years of saving and planning, we made it to Alaska.   This was a belated graduation trip for my son who is a chemistry/biology/zoology major in school this year.  First stop after the airport: Spruce Creek Campground in Juneau, Alaska. (We are on a budget.)   We saw deer, but no bears yet.  The best is yet to come.

The next stop was Mendenhall Glacier, which is that big chunk of ice there behind Joseph in the picture to the right.  While this glacier is receding, the one next to it is actually getting bigger.  So much for global warming.  We also hiked around the glacier and enjoyed this lovely waterfall which was next to it.  Funny signs posted around the glacier and all over Alaska will be posted soon.
