Attend Class, Sing, and Eat Cereal

 

We enjoyed a fabulous week at the Ohio SCMC music camp.  Besides studying hard in our classes and singing well in our choirs, we entertained shoppers with a flash mob at Walmart and then enjoyed each other's company at a cereal party afterward.  The music, camaraderie, and friendships formed were highlights of the week.

Music Camp!

It's always fun to reconnect with the gentleman you taught in third grade.  

I taught ties and slurs in my children's music skills class yesterday.  One of my student's mothers sent this to me last night.  Her son made it with his pasta.  Genius!

Ohio. A Great Music Camp in an Amazing Lobby

We are all enjoying the new facilities for the Ohio Campus of the Shenandoah Christian Music Camp which is held at Legacy Christian School.  Jeff says it is farm house Menno Pinteresty Magnolia (Waco, Texas) something.   Whatever you call it, it's lovely.  And it sounds lovely when we sing in there, too.   

And I love Jeff's funny whiteboard drawings for his voice class.  

And I made a few for my children's skills class.    Doti lassoed a farmy red doe.  Get it?

After a three-year long wait, we were back at the Virginia Shenandoah Christian Music Camp.  We thoroughly enjoyed the entire week, and the choir was a delightful blessing.   Lovely melodies and sweet memories returned with us as we arrived back at home.  The livestream is available at this link:

Walking Down the Hall at Shenandoah Christian Music Camp

We are enjoying an incredible week at the Shenandoah Christian Music Camp here in lovely, mountainous Virginia.  And this morning, during one of my off periods, I decided to refill my cup of coffee.  As I walked down the hall, I heard the melodious sounds of three different choirs blending together.  I thought it was splendid, and I wanted to share it with others.  So, I went and grabbed my camera, and here it is.  Enjoy.  And next year, if you would like to come, sign up at https://www.musiccamp.info/.  

What We Learned at the Ohio SCMC Music Camp

We learned that singers can take pretty good group pictures right before it is time to go on stage.

We learned that some people take, "Sing like you've got a big man-beard," very seriously.

We learned that singers can consume massive amounts of pizza after a program.

 And we learned that The Red Mug (Mt. Hope, OH, near Millersburg) has great service and amazing coffee, smoothies, scones and cookies.   www.facebook.com/theredmugcoffeeco/

"Monk" Choir in the Lobby

Here is a video of the "Monk" choir having some fun before the SCMC Ohio Choral Festival in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas.
It was referred to as the "Monk" choir because the first song in the set began with five guys singing a Gregorian chant.
