The 5th through 8th grade students at Shalom Mennonite School had a delightful time experiencing mini-term classes after lunch on two subsequent afternoons during school. I learned something totally new and fun -- literary origami, or book folding, and then taught two different classes how to make a heart design out of an old book.
While Mr. Caleb was out in a van geocaching with his class, his wife Julianne was in his classroom teaching a class on painting with water colors.
Principal Dervin Martin was in the kitchen teaching a chef's class. The guys made scrumptious smelling pizza bites and chocolate eclair dessert.
Art teacher Susanne Nolt taught a class called "Duct Tape Fun."
One student's mom taught a class on how to crochet scrubbies.
Fifth grade teacher Amy Zimmerman held a class called "Smoothies and Adult Coloring." That looked incredibly relaxing and yummy.
And of course, there were outdoor classes including Jeff's Disc Golf class, Spikeball, and Old-Fashioned Yard Games.
There were also home economics and photography classes. These were two fun-filled, educational days, and we are planning to do this again.
