In preparation for our semester grammar test last week, we performed Sentence Surgery. After we'd completed most of the review section in the text book, I purposely made diagramming mistakes on the outlines of stick-figure cut outs and gave one to each student to correct. Using scissors and surgical tape, most of them successfully performed their operations, and they did a fantastic job on the diagramming part of the test as well.
I got this idea from the super-fantastic book The End of Molasses Classes by Ron Clark.
