Once all the projects were completed and put on display at school, several teachers voted and ranked the projects. Here are the results.
First Place - FU-GO
Fu-go is the name for a Japanese balloon bomb, the first ever trans-continental weapon. Japan sent over around one thousand of these during WWII, and traveling on the jet stream, they crossed the ocean, and some landed in states as far away from the West Coast as Texas and Michigan. Only one is known to have exploded and killed people. This is a fascinating story and history topic. (If you are interested in a list of over 100 topics with pictures, email me at littleflock7 at gmail.com.)
Second Place - Eli Whitney's Cotton Gin
This one has a handle that really cranks, parts that spin around, and a working belt in the back.
Third Place -
Ernest Shackleton's Endurance, stuck in the ice, of course
