Lions, a Pyramid, a Ship, and My Husband's Favorite Military Strategy

Here are a few more of my 7th and 8th grade students' world history quarter projects.  Click here to see this year's Vikings, Roman Catacombs, and a floating bomb.

The Sinking of the Lusitania
The detail on this is just great.  Look at all the windows, the lifeboats, and the waves.  The student who completed this lovely project chose not to write her research paper on the Lusitania.  Instead, she wrote an eighteen page paper on Hitler.  And it's great, too.

Operation Fortitude
During World War II, the Allied nations used inflatable planes, tanks, and false radio messages to deceive Germany into thinking that the Allies had way more going on than they really did.  Yes, this is Jeff's favorite military strategy -- using blow-up balloons to defeat large-scale enemies.  (He hates war and fighting.)

The Man-eating Lions of Tsavo
In 1898, several workers building the Kenya-Uganda railroad were dragged from their tents and devoured by two man-eating lions.  Really.  This is an interesting research paper, too.

Temple at Chichen Itza
The Temple at Chichen Itza was built by the ancient Maya in the area which is now modern-day Mexico.
