NASA and the Bear Paw X-Ray Muscle Guy

I think this is supposed to be a guy on the right shooting a bear.
Nice paws.   Gr. Gr.

When my daughter was teaching second grade last year, I often helped her grade papers and gave her tips on how to help them with concepts that they were struggling with.   I began to notice some very funny and creative drawings on the papers.  If you've ever heard of the NASA study (I'm not recommending everything in this article) on this, the statistics are amazing.  Basically, in kindergarten, 99% of students scored in the "creative genius" category on a test.  The numbers went down as the students got older, and by the time the same group of students were seniors in high school, only 1-2% of them scored as creative geniuses.  But it was the same group of students!

What happened?  One of the theories is that we (teachers, school) train it out of them.  That's why EVERY DAY I have my students do art, music, Spanish, and go on a nature walk on the way to our physical education class.  We need to do those things, desperately.

So, as I was laughing away one night, I grabbed my camera. (I might add that the average grades for this class were easily in the mid-to-high "A" range.)  I share with you here the results of these creative geniuses, and beg you to do everything you can to keep your students and children in that category.

This is hysterical.  Here is a muscle guy getting an x-ray.  Evidently he is very concerned that in the x-ray, his hand has turned into a paw.
He is saying, "I don't now wy."  Translation:  "I don't know why," or better yet, "I don't know why my hand has turned into a giant paw. " That's genius!

Meet Mr. Rectangle, his wife, and Mr. Circle.
Even the teeth are rectangles.

Why just draw boring straight lines when you can do this??????
Notice that the child also wrote down extra sounds and the entire word on the top section when all that was required was to write down two sounds.  Way to go!

A map?  A trail?  Extra art?  Creative genius.

Celebrate the 100 and the last test.  YAY!
