Dr. Beam and His Bugs

Yesterday, Mr. Caleb arranged to have Dr. Fred Beam, a Brethren missionary and research biologist, visit our school.  I had no idea what a treat this was going to be.  While showing us amazing creatures and fascinating us with his vast knowledge, he and his wife masterfully wove together stories which all pointed to Christ, God, and His Creation.  Dr. Beam spent over twenty years on the mission field in Panama and Africa where he worked as a missionary, teacher, school principal, and scientist, researching malaria.  Someone needs to write a book about this man and his family's experiences.

a centipede and a millipede -- the former was crawling on Dr. Beam's son's bed

The fourth vertebrae from a roadkill giraffe's neck (obtained legally with a permit) looks amazingly like an angel.
