" . . . And Sanded Off His Mohawk."

Recently, I missed two days of school (which I hate to do) to go on a choir tour (which I love to do.)  I have noticed that when I'm gone, sometimes things go awry.  This time was no exception.  I returned to find my "art guy" graffitied.  (Is that a word?)  He had a face drawn on him in pencil, and a black mohawk painted on his head.  I was not happy.  So, I picked him up and took him to my English classroom.  Every class then heard the same speech.

"This is my art guy.  When I was gone, somebody drew a face on him, and somebody painted a mohawk on him.  This is my stuff.  I bring it here for you to see and to use.  I don't expect my stuff that I bought to be trashed.  This is not okay.  This is destructive and not nice.  Whoever did it, please confess it and make it right."

Within a day I had two confessions.  One was from a girl (surprise), and one was from a guy.  The girl said she was sorry and erased his face.  The guy said he was sorry, took my art guy up to the wood shop, and sanded off his mohawk.

Lesson learned.  Repentant students.  Happy teacher.
