The first ledger line note above the staff in the treble clef is an "A." Jeff teaches this by making the note into an alien ship with a weird alien head in it. He tells them, "A is for alien." He draws some strange, funny things, but they do work, and they help the students remember.
Next, he told his theory students that if they drew anything that had been discussed in class, either a nmenonic device or another way to remember a musical concept, on their test, that he would give them a tiny bit of extra credit. He loved what appeared on one of the next tests.
