Spelunking Field Trip

We've been studying geology:  rocks, minerals, fossils, and caves.  So today seemed the perfect day to go spelunking (cave exploring), especially since it was six degrees outside this morning, but inside the cave it was a balmy fifty-four.  We spent about an hour exploring Echo Dell Indian Echo Caverns with a knowledgeable tour guide, and then spent some time inside the gift shop which had a great collection of rocks, minerals and fossils.

After our explorations, each of us chose a bag filled with sand and treasures.  These included a treasure bag, a gemstone bag, and a fossil bag.  Once we got back to school, we used collanders and water to find our treasures.  I thought there would maybe only be a few in each bag, but I was pleasantly surprised.
