While we were on a choir tour last spring, we stayed with a family whose son had some very interesting art in his bedroom where we stayed. One piece of art was a bean mosaic. I asked the young man how it was done and then put it on my list of art projects for this year.
After experimenting with a few myself, I took a few samples, some cardboard, and a few bags of beans to school. By the end of the week, lovely little creations were everywhere. I only gave the students the ideas of making circles or hearts--they came up with all the other ideas on their own. Supplies + an idea + 10 minutes = creativity.
