Monarch Butterflies, Tennis, and a Magnifying Lens

Today we watched two monarch butterfly chrysalises emerge.  It didn't matter that we were in the middle of flash cards.  Those waited until we had watched this great event unfold (literally) before our eyes.
On our way to the tennis court, we collected plant specimens and then made this magnifier out of a bucket, plastic wrap, and water.  The curvature of the wrap and the water make a lens.

And this is why we were on our way to the tennis court.
Happy Monday!
